In October of 1863 during the Civil War, a fiery young Southern belle and a Yankee major meet near her family’s plantation. When his occupying force comes to her Chretien Point, Louisiana, home, Cora can’t deny her attraction to the handsome and kind-hearted major. In danger of losing the plantation, Cora searches for a rumored treasure and must juggle her conflicting emotions, family criticism, opposition from her neighbors, and battling armies, while relying on her faith in God to help her make the right choices.

Judith Richards

Judith Richards has a BA in History from Valparaiso University and is an avid reader and researcher of historical fiction and nonfiction, concentrating on the Civil War years and the western theater after the war. She lives in Brush Prairie, Washington on five acres where she enjoys birdwatching, walking, reading, writing, studying the piano, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She volunteers as a bookkeeper for her HOA and church preschool, and is active in her church and Bible study group.
